Organizing club

This morning my dear mother told me, "Amelia, don't ever apologize for being organized." This was in response to my own statement of "I must be weird because I just love making schedules and copies and keeping everything organized." And that's the truth. Planning the Outdoor Bible clubs for next week has been so terribly fun - I can't imagine how enjoyable teaching the clubs will be! Alissa S, Clara and I will be teaching two clubs next week in Broken Bow. We will be teaching one club in a home and the other in a local park. I distributed some fliers around town yesterday, and an ad was placed on the radio so hopefully many children will come.

Our lesson series is on Jesus' "I Am" statements. Besides being powerful lessons, it's neat to see how these statements correspond with my recent studies in the gospel of John this past school semester, as well as our own family Bible reading this summer. The final lesson in the series really packs a punch as it focuses on the verse "I am the Way, the Truth and the Life...." This lesson always seems to be a challenge to teach, not only because it is often difficult to equate abstract concepts with concrete concepts for children, but also because the truth that belief in Jesus Christ is, indeed, the only way to have a right relationship with God goes against the thinking of even very young children.

Please pray that every aspect of the clubs next week will bring glory to God and will accomplish His purposes both in the lives of the children, and in our lives as teachers.

It's only four weeks before the Fall 2008 semester begins at Cornerstone Bible Institute! It has been a charming summer break thus far, but I must admit that I'm rather antsy to get back into the books. I did a personal study of Galatians last month, and I now have questions for Mr. Steel....

But anyway, today is Mom and Dad's 26th anniversary and I'm keeping the small folks in line while the Parents take a trip to Kearney. I'd better go attend to my duties!
